Airline excess-baggage fees punish a third suitcase. A courier carton priced on kg and cm, dropped at 80 Ave, is how SFU, KPU, UBC, and college students send clothes, books, and kitchen gear home without paying per-piece at the airport.

Airline excess baggage is priced per piece. Courier is priced per kg and box size.
A 23 kg suitcase on a Canada–India ticket can cost more as a third bag than a dense courier carton of the same clothes. We weigh in kg/lbs and measure in cm so volumetric weight does not surprise you after you have already stuffed a giant empty-looking box.
Semester peaks are late August and December–January. The Newton desk at 12950 80 Ave, Unit 4 gets student cartons from Surrey, Delta, Langley, Richmond, and Vancouver. If your flight is in ten days, say so — economy 10–15 days is the wrong product.
What belongs in a student carton (and what does not)
Kitchen and small goods
Pots and sealed dry goods are a case-by-case. Glass and leaking bottles are a no. We would rather leave an item out than wreck a customs hold.
Laptops, batteries, perfume
Lithium batteries and many aerosols cannot ride in the same “clothes” carton. Carry electronics in the cabin, or ask before you bury a power bank in socks.
India-bound students usually go DTDC. Tight ticket dates go express.
Most extra-luggage cartons to family in India book on DTDC economy (10–15 days) or DTDC’s faster India option. Receiver Aadhaar or passport and a phone in India still apply — this is a courier shipment, not airline baggage.
If you already bought a ticket and the carton has to beat you home, we quote DHL or FedEx express (4–7 days) from the same desk. CAD per kg will be higher; the date is the point.

Destination address with PIN (India) or ZIP (USA) and a phone that someone at home answers.
Receiver KYC for India: Aadhaar or passport details. We cannot skip this because you are a student.
A contents list in plain English. “Personal effects” is not enough for customs.
Time: packing a 15–20 kg carton properly takes longer than dropping a sealed box. Weekend hours are 11:30 AM–7:30 PM — do not arrive 20 minutes before close with four suitcases.

We supply cartons. Pickup is available across the Lower Mainland if the boxes are already closed and listed.

You pay in CAD. Family at destination gets the tracking number. Economy vs express was chosen against your flight date, not a default.

Is courier cheaper than extra airline baggage?
Often, yes — especially on Canada–India long-haul where a third bag is priced per piece. Courier is billed on kg and cm in CAD. Bring a rough weight or photos and we will compare before you pack.
How long does student luggage take to India?
Economy is typically 10–15 working days; express is typically 4–7 working days after handover. Book against your flight date, not against a hope that economy will beat a ticket you already bought.
Can I ship a suitcase as-is?
Soft suitcases are awkward to label and easy to damage. We usually pack into courier cartons at the Newton desk. If you insist on the suitcase, we will tell you the volumetric risk before you pay.
Do you pick up from student housing in Vancouver or Burnaby?
Pickup is available across most of the Lower Mainland, including Vancouver and nearby campuses, with a pickup fee based on location and volume. Drop-off at 12950 80 Ave, Unit 4 has no pickup fee.
Can I put my laptop in the carton?
We advise carrying electronics in your cabin baggage. Lithium batteries in courier cartons are a common restriction. Ask at the counter before you pack a laptop or power bank.
