B2B samples

Commercial sample shipping from Surrey — invoices first, then the label

A sample is still merchandise. We book DHL and FedEx from Newton with a commercial invoice that a customs officer can read, not a gift-card contents list. CAD quotes on actual vs volumetric kg.

  • DHL / FedEx express typically 4–7 days
  • Commercial invoice and export paperwork checked at the counter
  • Pickup for shops and warehouses across the Lower Mainland

If it can be sold, customs will not treat it as a birthday gift

Apparel lots from Newton warehouses, hardware bits, and printed marketing kits all leave this counter. The FineEx job is to match DHL or FedEx to the date, then make the invoice match the carton — description, quantity, CAD value, country of origin.

CBSA export rules apply when you are shipping commercial goods out of Canada. We tell you when a walk-up label is enough and when you need a fuller export path. We will not invent an HS code for you, but we will not let a blank “parts” line go out the door either.

What we need before we print a sample label

A readable invoice

Buyer and seller names, ship-to address, item descriptions a non-specialist can understand, quantities, and values. Proforma is fine if it is complete.

Weight and size that match the carton

Actual kg vs volumetric from cm. A light, bulky display kit can cost more than a dense 5 kg parts box. We measure at 12950 80 Ave, Unit 4.

Restricted-goods honesty

Batteries, aerosols, liquids, branded cosmetics, food, and anything with a lithium cell get a stop-and-check. Bring the SDS or product sheet if you have it.

Express for buyer meetings. Economy only if the buyer can wait.

Most commercial samples from Surrey go DHL Express or FedEx because a buyer meeting or a production freeze has a date. Express on this desk is quoted as 4–7 working days — not overnight unless the product and cutoff actually support it.

If the sample can sit, we will say so and quote a slower option. India-bound commercial cartons may also compare DTDC, but a true B2B sample with an invoice is usually an express network, not a family gift product.

Commercial vs personal — we will ask

Sold or intended for sale, even at “sample” price, is commercial. Marking $1.00 on a $200 garment to dodge duty is how you get an exam and a delay.

Receiver must accept courier deliveries — many US and EU businesses reject residential-style labels or P.O. boxes on express products.

Pickup from Richmond, Delta, Langley, and Abbotsford warehouses is routine. Tell us loading-dock hours; our van is not a 24-hour dock appointment.

Repeat shippers: keep a simple invoice template. The second booking is faster when the first invoice was already clean.

How a sample booking runs at FineEx

  1. Share the draft invoice

Email or WhatsApp it with destination and packed dimensions. We flag missing fields before you drive in.

  2. Weigh, measure, choose the carrier

DHL vs FedEx on cutoff, tracking, and CAD. We tell you if the goods look restricted.

  3. Export paperwork, then tracking

Label prints after the invoice is acceptable. You get a tracking number to send to the buyer.

Destination, kg, cm, and what the goods actually are. “Samples — no value” on a branded carton is how the shipment gets held.

Questions about this service

Can I ship commercial samples as “gifts” to avoid duty?

No. If the goods are commercial, the invoice has to say so. Under-declaring to avoid duty is how the carton gets held. We will not write a fake gift description.

How fast can a sample leave Surrey?

Express is typically 4–7 working days after handover, subject to cutoff and destination customs. Same-day international labels still have to make the carrier’s uplift — ask us the cutoff for that afternoon.

Do you handle HS codes?

You own the classification. We help you put a description on the invoice that matches the physical goods, and we stop obviously unusable lines like “samples n.o.s.” with no further detail.

Can you pick up from a warehouse in Delta or Richmond?

Yes. Pickup covers the Lower Mainland. Share dock hours and carton count. Drop-off at 12950 80 Ave, Unit 4 is available if you would rather bring the shipment to Newton.

Which destinations do you book samples to?

USA, India, UK, EU, and other lanes DHL and FedEx serve from Canada. Restricted countries and sanctioned goods are a no. Ask with the destination and product, not a generic “worldwide.”
